Strawberry Daiquiris
Strawberry daiquiris are such an easy and fuss-free cocktail to make at home. They’re a frozen blend of strawberries, lime, simple syrup, and rum. The perfect treat at the end of a hot summer day!
Homemade strawberry daiquiris are a perfect way to use fresh, peak-of-the-season strawberries. I love making them in late spring when the days are getting hot. You know those days. When school is out. And summer is just around the corner.
You can make a batch of these when hanging out in the yard with friends. While you’re at it, go ahead and make virgin daiquiris for the kids. They’ll love it. And feel so grown up.
Ingredients for making strawberry daiquiris at home
You don’t need a pre-made mixer to make these. They’re quick and easy to make from scratch.
I love using fresh strawberries at the peak of their season. When they’re sweet, red, and juicy. You can use frozen berries. They’ll make the daiquiri thicker. If you want a thicker daiquiri using fresh berries, you can freeze them in a single layer and use those. Save a fresh strawberry to garnish your daiquiri if you’re feeling fancy.
Your favorite clear rum will do. You don’t need spiced or expensive rum for these.
Simple syrup is a dissolved sugar solution that is so easy to make at home. It adds sweetness to the daiquiri. Check out my recipe for simple syrup.
Fresh lime juice is best but bottled will also work. It adds tartness and acidity to make the flavors pop. Lime always helps give a bit of tropical flair to everything it touches.
Starting with crushed ice will give you the best consistency and be easier on your blender. If you don’t have crushed ice, cubes will do. Blend slowly. And add a little extra liquid if your blender is having a tough time.
Variations
Make a party pitcher: You can make a single daiquiri or a batch recipe. Check that your blender is big enough to triple the recipe before making a pitcher. It will yield about 7 cups. Mine has an 8-cup capacity and handles this with ease. If your blender is small, make 1 serving at a time.
Use frozen strawberries: If you don’t have fresh strawberries, you can substitute frozen. Frozen berries will yield a thicker drink. You can add a little bit of water to get the blender moving if you need to.
Use strawberry simple syrup: Replace the simple syrup with strawberry simple syrup for an even more concentrated strawberry flavor!
Make it a Mocktail: Use my strawberry daiquiri mocktail recipe to serve up virgin (alcohol-free) frozen daiquiris.
Pro-tip: Serving these in hot weather? Pre-chill your glasses in the freezer and freeze the fresh strawberries. It will help keep the strawberry daiquiris frozen when things get hot.
