Brain Booster Smoothie (Blueberry, Walnut, & Spinach)
This brain booster smoothie is packed with antioxidants, vitamins, omega-3s, and fiber. It’s the perfect pick-me-up for your brain!

About This Smoothie
This brain booster smoothie is full of nutrient-rich foods. I’ve written about this before, but smoothies feel like a cheat code for cleaning up your diet and adding nutrients!
Adding smoothies to help meet your dietary needs is a great tool. We try to eat healthy, but life gets in the way. Our systems, policies, and environments are working against our journey for healthy living.
Starting the day on the right foot is a great way to help set yourself up for success!
This brain power smoothie is a nutritional powerhouse. It’s plant-based, although you can choose whole milk instead of coconut milk. It’s loaded with leafy greens, walnuts, and berries that promote heart and cognitive health. I love adding greens to smoothies like my shamrock smoothie and tropical green smoothie!
Each serving contains an estimated 200% of the recommended dietary value of vitamin K. Careful if you need to limit vitamin K!
Folks, I’m not a doctor or medical professional. I’m a total food nerd who took Nutrition & Dietetics classes in college.
I love that this smoothie is full of wholesome, nutritious ingredients. I don’t know about you, but I can typically use a little pick-me-up to help me concentrate and focus!
It also tastes great, which is so important. My whole family loves this smoothie. We serve it as part of our breakfast or as a healthy snack. It’s perfect for adults, kids, and toddlers.
Ingredients

Wild Blueberries, Walnuts, and Spinach
Frozen wild blueberries can help maintain brain function and improve memory! They’re also low-calorie, nutrient-rich, full of antioxidants and flavonoids, and super tasty. Plus, they give this smoothie a gorgeous purple color.
Hulled walnuts are rich in vitamins, minerals, and omega-3 fatty acids. They’ve been shown to improve thinking and memory. Walnuts blend perfectly smooth, add a mild nutty flavor, and add another level of creaminess.
Baby spinach is full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. It’s rich in lutein, which has been shown to help preserve thinking abilities.
It has a mild flavor and blends up perfectly smooth! We all know we’re supposed to be eating our leafy greens!
Supporting Ingredients
A very ripe banana adds sweetness and makes the smoothie creamy.
A pitted Medjool date sweetens this smoothie while adding fiber and other nutrients.
Chia seeds add more fiber and omega-3s.
Spirulina powder is rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. I love adding it to my smoothies as a nutrient booster. There is also research that suggests that spirulina may have neuroprotective properties. Make sure you get it from a good and reliable source. I order mine from Nutrex Hawaii.
Sea salt enhances and balances the flavors in this smoothie. You only need a teeny tiny pinch. Not enough to make it salty.
Chilled coconut milk (the kind from a carton) makes the smoothie creamy and adds enough liquid to blend it. You can use whole milk instead, but it will no longer be plant-based.
Or, if you’re concerned about saturated fat from the coconuts, you can use your favorite milk substitute. While the data is still inconclusive, studies suggest that the medium-chain fatty acids in coconut may improve cognitive function. Plus, coconut milk is rich, creamy, and delicious!
