Ingredients

Units Scale

For rimming the glass

  • lime wedge
  • Tajin or margarita salt

For the margarita

  • 2 ounces silver tequila
  • 1 ounce orange liqueur
  • 2 ounces fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • 1 ounce agave syrup or simple syrup
  • Ice cubes
  • grapefruit and lime slices for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rim the glass: Rub the lime wedge along the rim of a rock glass or a margarita glass to moisten it. Dip the rim of the glass into a dish of tajin or margarita salt. Gently press and move in a circular motion to coat the rim.
  2. Make the Margarita: Fill a cocktail shaker half full of ice. Then, add tequila, orange liqueur, grapefruit and lime juices, and agave syrup. Close the lid and shake vigorously to mix the grapefruit margarita. Strain into the prepared glass and enjoy.

Notes

Make a stirred margarita: If you do not have a cocktail shaker, fill a tall, heavy-bottomed glass half full of ice. Then, add all the ingredients and stir with a spoon to mix.

Make a frozen grapefruit margarita: Add all the ingredients and ice to a blender and blend until smooth.
