Combine all ingredients and cover with water. Bring to a simmer over medium-low. Reduce heat to low and simmer away. Check periodically and add more water as it evaporates.

Use up produce!
You can use bruised apples, apple cores, and apple peels instead of a prime apple.
Use plenty of orange peels instead of a whole orange if you prefer.
