This island green smoothie with mango and spirulina is delicious and nutritious!
Serve cold.
Add a boost: Add 1 tablespoon of avocado, full-fat yogurt, or chia seeds to add a dose of good fats. Or add a scoop of protein powder. Add a spoonful of plain yogurt for a probiotic boost.
Change the liquid: Cows milk, plant-based milk such as almond milk, coconut milk, or oat milk. Or use plain water.
Make it sweeter: This smoothie is naturally sweet from the banana and the tropical fruit. To make it a dessert or treat, add extra sweetener. Sugar, honey, maple syrup, and agave all work. You can also add your favorite sugar-free sweetener.
Using fresh fruit: You can use fresh mango and pineapple in this smoothie, but I recommend freezing them first. You can cut the fresh fruit into chunks and place them into the freezer until frozen solid. If you use fresh fruit without freezing it, you need to add a handful of ice to the blender. It will give this island green smoothie a frozen consistency.
Add spinach: You can use ½ cup of spinach and ½ cup of kale or 1 cup of spinach instead of kale.
