Mulled Wine in the Slow Cooker

Make this easy and festive mulled wine in the slow cooker. It’s perfect for fall and winter.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 bottle of dry red wine (750 ml) such as cabernet, merlot, or pinot noir
  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 1/2 cup brandy or cognac
  • 2 tablespoons honey or sugar
  • 4 mandarin oranges or 1 naval orange, quartered with peel on
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 whole star anise
  • 6 cloves

Optional Garnishes: orange slices, cinnamon sticks, and whole star anise

Instructions

  1. Stir everything in a 2-quart slow cooker and cook on low for 1 hour. 
  2. Switch to warm and let it sit for at least 2 hours.

Serve warm.

Notes

  • Refrigerate leftovers and rewarm the mulled wine on the lowest stovetop setting. Or on low in the slow cooker.
  • Use a small slow cooker unless you want to make a large batch.
