This tropical twist on the margarita is tart, tangy, and delicious.

Ingredients

Scale

For 1 Margarita

  • 2 ounces of gold tequila
  • 1 1/2 ounces passion fruit syrup
  • 1 1/2 ounces fresh-squeezed orange juice
  • 1 ounce fresh-squeezed lime juice
  • Tajin and extra passion fruit syrup for the rim
  • A dried orange wheel or an orange wedge for garnish

For a 2-quart Pitcher (10 Servings)

  • 2 1/2 cups gold tequila
  • 1 3/4 cups plus 2 tablespoons passion fruit syrup
  • 1 3/4 cups plus 2 tablespoons fresh-squeezed orange juice
  • 1 1/4 cups fresh-squeezed lime juice

Instructions

For 1 Margarita

  1. Rim the glass: Pour a small amount of passion fruit syrup into a shallow dish or a margarita rimmer. Dip the rim of your glass in the syrup. Gently press and move in a circular motion to coat the rim. Pour Tajin into a separate shallow dish and coat the rim in the same manner.
  2. Make the margarita: Fill a cocktail shaker half full of ice. Then, add the tequila, passion fruit syrup, orange juice, and lime juice. Close the lid, then shake vigorously to mix. Strain into the prepared glass and garnish with the orange wheel or an orange wedge.

For a 2-quart Pitcher

  1. Mix the tequila, passion fruit syrup, orange juice, and lime juice in a pitcher. Chill until ready to serve. Do not add ice to the pitcher. It will melt and water down the margaritas.
  2. When you’re ready to serve, prepare the glasses with a Tajin rim (described above) and fill them with ice. Pour the chilled margarita mixture over the ice. Garnish and serve.
