Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Cheddar Biscuits

  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter (cold)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar
  • 1 cup milk

For the Garlic Herb Topping

  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 425℉. Lightly grease a sheet pan or line it with parchment paper.

  1. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  2. Cut the cold butter into cubes and add to the flour mixture.
  3. Use your fingers or a pastry blender to cut the butter into the flour. Mix it in until it forms pea-sized clumps.
  4. Add the cheddar and stir it in.
  5. Pour the milk over the mixture and use a wooden spoon to mix until barely combined. Do not overmix!
  6. Drop ¼ cup spoonfuls of the biscuit dough onto the prepared baking sheet. It will make about 12 biscuits.
  7. Bake at 425℉ for 14-16 minutes, until golden.
  8. Meanwhile, prepare the topping. Mix the melted butter, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and parsley in a small bowl.
  9. Brush the topping over the hot biscuits as soon as they come out of the oven.
